Last night on the National Geographic Channel, I watched perhaps one of the most disturbing documentaries on global warming and the effects it can have on our environment. We do not realize that in thirty years, our planet can almost be unrecognizable because of the damage that we are doing to it now. This documentary takes you step by step to show the damage that will be done to the environment if we do not take action now and stop global warming in its steps.
To discuss briefly, some of the topics discussed last night were as follows:
1. Ice caps are melting and polar bears are drowning.
2. The Amazon Rain Forest is experiencing periods of drought and
there is reason to believe that if this pattern continues, it can dry
out completely.
3. Large amounts of energy are being wasted by humans which is a leading cause of global warming.
4. If ice caps continue to melt, massive flooding can take out major cities and coast lines.
This documentary was not only informative on the topic of global
warming, but also a wake up call. It showed destruction on a large
scale and although the thought of what global warming can do is
frightening, it is at the same time, very true. For more information
