UPS Goes From Brown to Green
Page 2
UPS is one of the many freight carriers that are attempting to “go green”.  They understand the importance of saving the environment and using alternative measures for delivery purposes.  UPS has invested over 15 million dollars over the past few years and now has over 1,600 trucks that are either hybrid or alternative fueled systems.  In October, UPS also announced they will be adding another 360 trucks to their routes that are fuel efficient.  Since 1998, UPS has been testing different hybrid trucks in the hopes to find one that is both convenient for them and also safe for the environment.  Each year that passes, UPS is doing more and more to ensure their trucks are as eco-friendly as possible.

UPS has been a great example for other fright companies such as FedEx.  FedEx too is attempting to introduce more hybrid trucks to their routes in the hopes of keeping the air cleaner.  Obviously, there is more work that will need to be done among these various freight companies, however, with any luck, they will continue to do further testing in the hopes of operating with more fuel efficient trucks so that air pollution is reduced.  For more information on UPS going green, please visit www.money.cnn.com.
