There are several ways that a person can incorporate “green” into their everyday living. For starters, think about ways you can go green in your home. When purchasing paper products, such as paper towels, napkins, or bathroom tissues, make sure to purchase recyclable paper products. You may even want to try purchasing cloth napkins, instead of the normal paper napkins that most people use. It is usually easier for consumers to purchase paper plates so there is no clean up and no mess after eating. Using paper plates however is not the “green” way to go, instead, try using basic dishware when eating. It may take an extra few minutes to clean up, but you will feel better about yourself knowing you are doing your part to help keep the environment clean.
For the office, there are many things you can do to “go green.” When
purchasing paper products, obviously, recyclable paper is always the
best way to go. Try to conserve paper by reading documents and other
such reading material from its original source, versus always
printing. If you must print, try to use both sides of the paper, this
will help save a lot of paper. If you work in an office setting where
cardboard is often used, always make sure to recycle because as many of
you know, cardboard can take a long time to breakdown. Instead of
mailing paperwork, if you can try using other methods such as email to
conserve paper. By emailing, you will do away with the use of paper
for the printed document and the envelope that you would use to mail
it.
Another helpful hint, when paying bills, instead of mailing a check,
use the online payment option that so many companies have now
introduced. It works to everyone’s benefit in that payments can be
made quick and easy and at the same time, you are saving paper that you
would have normally used when writing the check and sending it. It
also saves you on the postage fees which everyone likes. Use these
helpful hints and others we may have not mentioned to help “go green”
in your everyday living. If everyone did their part, we can all help
to make this a safer and cleaner environment.
